THE BOY WHO PLAYED WITH FIRE
The Boy Who Played With Fire ($0.99) SUMMARY: A teenage hooligan with a penchant for playing with fire goes in search of a dragon, before stumbling upon the London Underground's deadly secret. GENRE: Urban Fantasy (Dragons) * Jess thought it was high time to write a dragon story, since she's been running dragonsinn.net for 10 years+. * * * Note: Jess intends to expand this short story into a novel (future project). COMING IN 2013 P.S. Might bring in some of the elves from cyberpunk Elven trilogy ;) * * * REVIEWS/CUSTOMER EMAILS: "...a good little book, hoping for more so I can see where the
story goes. I'm a big fan of 'secret London' type books and dragons
so combining the two is a definate box ticker for me." "Really, [Jess's] book is out of the usual. The dragon stuff and
weird characters put me on the edge of my seat waiting what lays ahead
of the story. Jess is the perfect example of an author who practices
the notion "WRITE TO EXPRESS not to IMPRESS". "I adore your website for dragon lovers!" "I think the world your characters live in sounds really interesting..." "Loved your dragon website and will visit often. There are people,
poor fools they be who do not believe in dragons. My thoughts on the
matter are simple, one must believe before they can see the magic." "You have set my mind in a better place. 'Tis a fine thing you
do to bring the Dragon in to yet another 1,000 years. 'Tis folks like
yourself that make the world a finer place (not so uptight). As you
grow don't let your dreams fade." * * * EXCERPT: 1: Crystal Light 2 a.m., four of them, stealthing around in the London Underground. Pax couldn't get the image out of his mind. No better way to spend an otherwise lackluster Saturday night. "$20,000 for the dragon's head!" ran the televised message on MythoBusters, a few hours ago. "Get her before she gets you. She lies somewhere, deep in the heart of the underground…" Pax Wu and Ashley Rae had been curled up on the couch during the episode. Prashanti Priya was making out with Chris Lotts somewhere on the floor, to one side of the small, hand-me-down TV set. Four housemates: two of them aimless job-hopping punks, while the other two were Liberal Arts undergraduates, frequently playing truant. The group of friends called their clique "FourSquared" ("4Sq." for short). "She glows like a green crystal--get her before she gets you." * * *
