"In 2012, according to the Mayan calendar...[it comes] to an end on December 21, 2012. So, lots of people are expecting something to happen. Edgar Cayce [one of America's greatest psychics] talked about how we'd enter into a New Age that would be known for three things: purity, global consciousness, and a height of spiritual consciousness that we have yet to encounter."

EXCERPT:

Many others have reached a point where they can't see any point whatsoever with religion.

One of my guy friends (who also attended that church camp) proudly lists his religious beliefs on Facebook as "Atheist."

"C'mon, change yours too," he was egging some of us on the other day. "We need more people to make it clear that the Age of Christianity is past!"

When I asked him what he meant about "the Age of Christianity," he said it was something related to astrology and the Mayan calendar that ends in 2012.

"It's this popular and sensationalized thing that the world is going to end in 2012," he explained, "though actually, what the Mayans meant with the 2012 date was that their current era was going to end. Each 'era' lasts about 2,000 years--2012 will bring on the Age of Aquarius."
